The Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth, Dapoli was established in 1972 to cater the education, research and extension education needs in agriculture and allied sectors of the Konkan region. The Konkan region could be developed through the development of crop farming, horticulture, livestock and fisheries. Through extension education, local proof of the tested technology is established. In order to achieve the goals of extension education, the Directorate of Extension Education of the University is doing the planning and execution of several useful programmes. Thus, extension education is one of the important functions of the University.

Growth :

Agricultural extension education in improved agricultural production technologies is the mandatory activity of the University. The extension education work in the discipline of extension education began at College of Agriculture, Dapoli when a separate Extension wing was attached to it during 1966. Initially, the extension activities were implemented through College Development Block which comprised of 50 Villages from Dapoli tahsil with the head quarter at Dapoli and circle offices at Palgad, Harnai, Murud, Karanjani, Wakawali and Dapoli. The extension activities such as demonstrations, field trips, input supply, field days, afforestation, farm and home visits were carried out. Extension Education programme of College of Agriculture received Momentum after the establishment of the university. Directorate of Extension was established at University level.
